ONCOLOGY

Alexion's oncology program is focused on the development of therapies for rare cancers. The company’s lead oncology candidate is samalizumab, an anti-CD200 antibody, which is being developed for the treatment of several hematologic malignancies and rare solid tumors. In December 2010, investigators presented interim results from the first Phase I/II trial of samalizumab. The study showed that in patients with B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM), samalizumab was well tolerated, exhibited a dose-dependent response, and showed initial evidence of anti-tumor activity.
